DeSoto County Ranch Land Calls for Big Equipment
Few towns in Florida are as tied to cattle as Arcadia. It is home to the Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo, and the pastures around the town still run to the horizon along US-17 and SR-70. Ranches here are measured in hundreds or thousands of acres, and keeping that ground productive means a constant fight against palmetto, brush and invasive trees.
That is where our machines earn their keep. Our yard is in Tampa, and Arcadia is within our 100-mile service range. We bring a track loader fitted with a forestry mulcher, a grapple loader for moving heavy wood, a stump grinder, a bucket truck, chainsaws and a dump trailer, so one crew can handle a project from the first cut to the final cleanup.
Pasture Reclamation and Invasive Control
On many DeSoto County ranches, the biggest problem is not one tree but thousands of small ones. Brazilian pepper is especially aggressive here, forming walls along ditches, creek edges and fence rows and shading out grass. Saw palmetto spreads across sandy ground, and wax myrtle and young oaks fill any area that is not grazed or mowed.
Our forestry mulching service grinds that growth to the ground without pushing up the topsoil, leaving a mulch layer that protects the soil while grass recovers. For tracts that need complete removal of trees and roots, such as a new homesite or a field conversion, we use full land clearing. We will explain the trade-offs at the estimate so you can choose the method that fits your plans and budget.

Ranch Roads, Fence Lines and Firebreaks
Big properties need dependable ways to move around and to stop a fire. Common ranch requests we handle around Arcadia include:
- Fence-line clearing so new fence can go in or existing wire can be checked and repaired
- New and rebuilt ranch roads through access road construction and grading, reaching pens, wells and back pastures
- Firebreaks mulched or graded along property lines and around barns, hay and equipment as part of fire risk reduction
- Ditch and culvert clearing so water moves off pastures and drives during the rainy season
Dry winters and springs in DeSoto County make wildfire a real concern on palmetto ground, and a clean break can make the difference in how far a fire travels.
Storm Lessons Along the Peace River
Arcadia has been hit hard more than once. Hurricane Charley crossed the town in 2004 and damaged homes and trees across the historic downtown, and Hurricane Ian in 2022 brought major Peace River flooding that reached homes and roads around the city. People here know what a big storm can do.
We help Arcadia property owners in both directions. Before the season, we remove dead, split or leaning trees near homes and thin heavy oak canopies. Once the wind dies down, our saws go to work on downed trees, the grapple lifts trunks off fences and roofs, and the debris leaves on our trailer. Where flooding has clogged ditches and drainage with silt and brush, our stormwater drain cleaning helps get water moving again.

In Town and Out in the County
Not every job here is a ranch. Arcadia's older neighborhoods around the downtown historic district have large live oaks and laurel oaks that need trimming, cabling decisions or removal, and newer homes on the edge of town often sit on lots with pines and palmetto that need clearing. We serve:
- Downtown Arcadia and the surrounding residential streets
- Homes and acreage along US-17 north toward Hardee County and south toward Charlotte County
- Ranches and farms along SR-70 east and west of town
- Rural land off SR-72 heading west toward Sarasota County
- River properties near the Peace River canoe and kayak areas
We often combine Arcadia work with trips to Wauchula to the north and Punta Gorda to the south.
