Tree Care on Holiday's Close-Set Lots
Most of Holiday was built out in the 1960s and 1970s as an affordable place near the Gulf, and much of it still looks that way: block homes on modest lots, carports, chain-link fences and backyards that meet the neighbors' backyards. The trees came with the homes or seeded in on their own, and many are now much bigger than anyone planned for. A laurel oak planted near a corner of the house can end up shading three roofs, and a slash pine that started as a seedling along the fence can top out well above the power lines.
On lots this tight there is almost never space to fell a whole tree at once. Nearly every removal in Holiday is a sectional job, with limbs and trunk pieces lowered on ropes or cut from a bucket truck parked in the street.
Problems We Run Into Most in Holiday
Roots under slabs, drives and pipes
Older homes here sit on slabs with clay or cast-iron drain lines that are now decades old. Oak and camphor roots find those pipes and crack driveways and sidewalks along the way. Our root removal service cuts and pulls the offending roots, and stump grinding finishes the job once the tree itself is gone.
Fence lines nobody has touched in years
Back property lines often collect Brazilian pepper, vines, volunteer cherry laurel and young oaks that grow into the fence and the overhead lines. Clearing that strip opens up the yard and stops the fence from being pushed over.
Large trees near the house that have started to fail
Deadwood falling on the carport, fungus at the base, cracks where two trunks meet: these are the signs that it is time for tree removal rather than another round of trimming.

Overgrown Lots, Rentals and Fixer-Uppers
Holiday has plenty of rental homes and houses that change hands as investors fix them up. Many of those properties come with years of neglect: a backyard swallowed by brush, a dead tree over the roof and a pile of old limbs behind the shed. For landlords, property managers and buyers, we can take a yard from overgrown to show-ready in one visit.
- Lot clearing for vacant parcels and badly overgrown yards.
- Brush clean up for vines, small trees and invasive shrubs along fences.
- Removal of dead or risky trees before a sale, inspection or new tenant.
- Haul-off of everything we cut, so there is nothing left at the curb.
Storm Exposure Near the Anclote River and the Gulf
The Anclote River runs along Holiday's southern edge into the Gulf, and the neighborhoods west of US-19 sit close to the coast. That puts Holiday in the path of tropical storm winds and, in the lowest areas, storm surge. Older, oversized trees on small lots are exactly the ones that end up on roofs and across streets after a strong system passes.
Spring and early summer are the best time to deal with them, before hurricane season and the daily afternoon thunderstorms arrive. Reducing the weight on long limbs, removing dead tops from lightning-struck pines and taking out trees that already lean toward the house costs far less than cleanup after the fact. When storms do hit, we cut and remove fallen trees from homes, cars and driveways and clear the yard so repairs can begin.

From the Pinellas Line to Trinity
Our Holiday work stretches from the Anclote River and the Tarpon Springs border north along US-19 and Alt US-19, through the neighborhoods between US-19 and the coast, and east toward the newer homes near Trinity. We are regularly just up the road in New Port Richey and across the county line in Palm Harbor, so Holiday jobs are easy to fit in.
Estimate Visit, Scheduling and Our Crew
Here is how it works. You reach out, by phone or through the contact page, whether it is a Tuesday morning or a Sunday evening, since we pick up from 6 AM until 10 PM. We come by to see the trees, check where power lines, fences and neighbors' structures are, and give you a price at no cost. On the day of the job, we arrive with the right equipment for a small lot, which often means the bucket truck, chainsaws, a stump grinder and a dump trailer rather than anything that will tear up the lawn. FTDF Services is based in Tampa, works throughout the region, and our crew speaks both English and Spanish.
