Davenport's Building Boom at the I-4 and US-27 Crossroads
Davenport began as a small railroad and citrus stop on what is now US-17/92. Today most people know the name because of what surrounds it: the busy interchange at I-4 and US-27, the shopping around Posner Park, and mile after mile of new homes stretching toward Four Corners, where Polk meets Lake, Osceola and Orange counties. Across the line, ChampionsGate and the resort communities along I-4 have pulled even more building toward this corner of Polk.
All of that construction starts the same way, with land that has to be cleared. Much of it was citrus grove, cattle pasture or pine and palmetto woods only a few years ago. That is the kind of ground we work on every week.
Getting Raw Land Ready to Build
A builder or investor in Davenport usually needs more than trees cut down. The goal is a site that drains, compacts and can be surveyed without obstacles. Depending on the parcel, we handle:
Full-parcel clearing
Land clearing removes trees, stumps, palmetto and old grove remnants across larger tracts, with the wood piled, mulched or hauled.
Pad and lot preparation
Site preparation and land leveling take a cleared lot to a smooth, even surface so foundation crews can get to work.
Getting equipment in
On back acreage with no driveway, access road construction and grading gives trucks, well drillers and concrete crews a firm path in, even through loose ridge sand.

Caring for Trees in a Brand-New Neighborhood
New subdivisions often keep a few mature oaks or pines along the edges or in common areas. Those trees have just lived through heavy equipment, grade changes and lost neighbors, and stress shows up a year or two later as thinning crowns and dead limbs. Trees that used to grow inside a dense stand are also suddenly exposed to full wind.
For homeowners and HOAs in Davenport, we offer tree trimming and pruning to clear roofs and sidewalks, raise canopies over streets and remove deadwood. When a tree is clearly declining or leaning toward a house, tree removal followed by stump grinding is often the safest choice.
Many homes near ChampionsGate and Four Corners are vacation rentals with owners who live out of state. We can coordinate by phone, photos and email, so you do not need to be on site for us to give an estimate or finish the job.
Old Davenport, Lakes and Country Roads
Away from the interstate, the Davenport area still has a quieter side. The original town along US-17/92 has older homes with big shade trees, and the roads heading east and south pass lakes, pasture and small acreage homesteads. These properties need different work than a subdivision:
- Overgrown fence lines and pastures that respond well to forestry mulching, which grinds brush in place without bare dirt left behind.
- Brush and vines around barns, sheds and lake access paths.
- Large live oaks and laurel oaks over older homes that need pruning or removal.

Weather Risks Specific to Fresh Clearings
Summer thunderstorms here build almost daily from June through September, and hurricanes crossing the state can bring hours of strong gusts to inland Polk. One local risk is easy to overlook: trees standing at the edge of newly cleared land. Pines and oaks that grew up sheltered by a forest are left alone on the edge of a lot, with roots cut by grading, and they are much more likely to blow over in the first few storm seasons.
If your home backs up to a recently cleared tract, it is worth having those edge trees looked at before peak season. During long dry spells in spring, thick brush left on vacant parcels can also carry fire, which is one reason builders and landowners ask us to mulch or remove it early.
Working With FTDF Services in Davenport
We are a Tampa-based crew covering roughly 100 miles in every direction, which puts Davenport, nearby Haines City and the Osceola side around Poinciana well within our regular range. On a typical Davenport site you may see our skid steer running a mulching head, a wheel loader sorting logs with its grapple, a stump grinder working through old grove roots and a bucket truck for tall trees beside finished homes.
Estimates are free. Builders can send a survey or site plan, and homeowners can just send photos. Reach out through the contact form, seven days, and feel free to write or talk to us in Spanish.
